Funds to purchase GPS units for area trails groups
SARNIA, ON – Lambton County Regional Trails Committee is "caching-in" thanks to a $1,000 grant from Union Gas to support the Lambton County Trail Awareness through Geocaching Program.
"The Awareness through Geocaching Program is about exploring a trail or green space near you," said Kelley Elliott, Health Promoter with the County of Lambton Community Health Services Department. "Geocaching is essentially a high-tech scavenger hunt that lets residents search for one of hundreds of "caches" that have been hidden throughout Lambton County."
Cache locations can be downloaded at www.geocaching.ca (free membership) and the Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) unit used to find the cache.
"Not only is "geocaching a great way to spend time with family and friends, it's a great way to connect with nature, get active, reduce stress and have fun all at the same time," added Elliott.
